Meet Our Honorees for the July 16th YMO Fundraising Event - BEVERLY SKILANG

My name is Beverly Skilang, I am a dialysis patient. I have been undergoing treatment three times a week for the past seven years, starting in 2018. My journey into dialysis began because of complications from diabetes, which stemmed from an unhealthy lifestyle in my younger years. Despite my best efforts to follow my doctors' advice, I found myself relying daily on dialysis for my survival.

Throughout this journey, I have leaned heavily on my faith and spirituality. I recognize that God plays a vital role in my life, providing me with the strength to face each day. Although I often feel alone in my struggles with depression and physical health, reading the Bible and praying helps uplift my spirit and gives me hope. I firmly believe that by sharing my experience, I can inspire others facing similar health challenges.

As a Palauan citizen, I am grateful for the privilege to seek medical treatment in the U.S. I took a leap of faith and relocated to California to continue my dialysis. However, my health condition has left me in desperate need of financial assistance. The demands of dialysis make it virtually impossible for me to find employment; the treatments are physically exhausting, leaving me drained.

I have been praying for a miracle, holding on to the hope that one day I will receive a call about a kidney transplant. I remain steadfast in my faith that brighter days are ahead.

Today, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to God, my doctors, nurses, donors, and the supportive community around me. Your kindness has extended my life, and I am hopeful for a better tomorrow.
